Floating Bar Setup (Factory Configuration)

The Mini ComfortStride Pack Saddle® comes standard with the bars set in a floating configuration, allowing them to pivot slightly and move naturally with the animal’s back. This floating design allows the saddle to adapt to virtually any small pack animal, helping ensure a comfortable fit across a wide range of body shapes. Because the mini saddle uses arches cut from 3/8" plate steel, 3/16" spacers are installed at the pivot points to provide proper clearance and smooth movement. In most cases, leaving the bars floating works very well and allows the saddle to conform to the animal during use. However, if a fixed setup is preferred, the bars can be tightened by securely tightening the 5/16" pivot bolts.

To set the bars in the fixed position:

1. Place the saddle on the animal’s back without a pad.

2. Ensure the saddle sits safely behind the shoulder blade so there is no contact during movement.

3. Once positioned correctly, tighten the 5/16” pivot bolt.

4. For a solid fit, use an impact drill to tighten the bolt as securely as possible.
